About Real Glock
Glock (German: [?gl?k]; stylized as GLOCK) is a brand of polymer-framed, short recoil-operated, striker-fired, locked-breech semi-automatic pistols designed and produced by Austrian manufacturer Glock Ges.m.b.H. The firearm entered Austrian military and police service by 1982 after becoming the top performer in reliability and safety tests.Glock pistols have become the company's most profitable line of products, and have been supplied to national armed forces, security agencies, and police forces in at least 48 countries. Glock unveiled the latest iteration of their renowned semi-automatic pistol, the "fifth generation" or "Gen5" Glock 17, to the real steel world. The revisions made to this generation of Glock pistols centered around enhancing ergonomics and improving overall reliability. A significant change was that many of the parts in the fifth-generation models cannot be interchanged with those from previous generations. The two fifth-generation models that were announced were the Glock 17 and Glock 19, both chambered for the 9x19 mm Parabellum cartridge.
Some of the conspicuous modifications in the fifth-generation Glock pistols include the addition of ambidextrous slide stop levers, a Diamond-Like Carbon (DLC) surface finish applied to the barrel and slide, a revised style of polygonal rifling in the barrel (dubbed the "Glock Marksman Barrel" by the company), a deeper recessed barrel crown, the omission of finger grooves on the grip, the inclusion of a flared magazine well, and the reintroduction of a half-moon shaped cutout on the bottom front of the grip. Additionally, the locking block pin located above the trigger pin, which was a feature introduced in the third generation, has been omitted. Many internal parts have also been revised, though these changes are less conspicuous. To identify the fifth-generation pistols, the slide is roll-marked with the "Gen 5" designation next to the model number.
The magazines for the fifth-generation Glock pistols have also been redesigned, with the magazine floor plates featuring a protruding lip at the front to aid in manual assisted extraction, and the magazine follower being colored orange for easier visual identification.
