Product Description:
Hartford Protector Palm Pistol (Model Gun)
The
Tanaka Hartford Protector Palm Pistol is a faithful replica of the
unique and unconventional pocket watch-shaped palm pistol. Originally
designed by French designer Jacques E. Turbiaux, this small pistol was
intended to be concealed in the palm of the hand and operated by
clasping it in a fist. The barrel would protrude between two fingers,
and the entire firearm would be squeezed to fire a round. Its design
aimed to mimic a pocket watch, even to the extent of being carried on a
chain.
The original Protector Palm Pistol, known as the "Turbiaux Le
Protector," was patented and built in France in 1882 by Jacques
Turbiaux. It later made its way to the United States, where it was
manufactured by the Minneapolis Firearms Co. and the Chicago Fire Arms
Co. in 1883. The Tanaka model gun is based on the Chicago Fire Arms Co.
variant of the Protector Palm Pistol.
The Hartford Protector Palm Pistol replica by Tanaka faithfully
reproduces the peculiar design of the original firearm. It features a
turret-shaped cylinder that rotates laterally, distinguishing it from
traditional revolver mechanisms. While this model gun is a non-firing
replica, it functions similarly to the real firearm, allowing you to
"load" and "shoot" it. Owning this piece offers a unique opportunity to
appreciate the rich history of firearms. If you're a fan of firearms
history, the Tanaka Hartford Protector Palm Pistol replica is sure to be
a valuable addition to your collection.
