The AKS74U is a short barrel AK also known as the Krinkov, officially adopted by the Soviet Armed Forces in 1979, it was developed based on the AK74 as there was a need for a personal defense weapon or a PDW platform for rear echelon troops. The AKS74U was notably seen used by Spetsnaz in the Soviet invasion of Afghanistan as well as KGB officers protecting VIPs in Russia.
